College admissions author to quell application fears at Highland Park talk

As college-application anxiety shifts into high gear for the Class of 2014, it’s an apt time to point out some reassuring statistics. Sure, prestigious schools often tout their low admission rates as a sign of greatness. But the odds aren't nearly that daunting for most seniors, says author Christine VanDeVelde, who will be speaking Thursday, Sept. 26, at Highland Park High School.
