From Roark L., Vanderbilt, Class of 2012:
Bread and Co.
2525 West End Ave
Perfect for a quick, easy, and tasty meal. The location can’t be beat — right on West End, and essentially next door to the Vanderbilt Bookstore. Food options are basic but the ingredients are high quality. The soups are delicious and we recommend the turkey chili. You can also build your own sandwich or salad or pick from a large variety of premade options.
The Loveless Cafe
8400 Tennessee 100
The Loveless is a little bit out of the way, but an absolute must for traditional Southern comfort food. Fried chicken and biscuits with homemade seasonal preserves may clog your arteries, but it is worth it just this once — and so is the hashbrown casserole.
The Pancake Pantry
1796 21st Avenue South
There will always be a line, but it is worth it for the pancakes that are served all day long. Maybe you’ll even see Taylor Swift, a frequent patron. Stay in your comfort zone and order the traditional buttermilk, blueberry or chocolate pancakes, or go out on a limb for the sweet potato pancakes. Just trust us.
